Solving Problems, Improving Results

Business engineering is the development and implementation of business solutions, from business model to business processes and organizational structure to information systems and information technology. It focuses on developing innovative solutions that take a sociotechnical systems (STS) approach. The STS approach addresses the business as a total system in the same manner as an airplane system or an industrial facility, since they possess a similar level of complexity.

Business engineering combines knowledge in the fields of business administration, industrial engineering, which is the optimization of complex processes, systems, or organizations by developing, improving and implementing integrated systems of people (efficiency), money, knowledge, information, equipment, energy, and materials, as well as information technology and connects it to all aspects of transformation, from means of presentation to process models to cultural and political considerations.

A business engineer is a hybrid between a business administrator and technology expert, a person with the business acumen and engineering abilities to understand a complex organization and devise solutions and work as a liaison between the client and technology service providers.

People hire business engineers to help solve problems that are too difficult to be solved internally.
